Taking a wild guess: it is supposed to convert a score in PDF format (say, a scan) into a musescore file?I just tried to use it to import a musescore generated PDF file. The web page says I now have 4 of 5 'conversion slots' open, and that the PDF is cued.
I wonder what happens next.UPDATE: after a minute or so, when I refresh the page, it shows a 'status' column, with a link called 'success'. When I download that, it gets me a 'score.xml' file. I can open the score.xml file, and it gives me a pretty accurate musescore transcription of the PDF. It's not perfect (I'm missing a note here and there, and it adds some extra articulation symbols), but it's actually quite good apart from that.
Obviously this is only a proof of concept, I wonder what it does with actual scanned scores.Tips: You can download loads and loads and loads of scores in PDF format from Let's all try and use this thread to inform each other of the results. Let's be kind to the musescore site and use only small PDFs for now, I'm sure at this point we want to test the quality of the transcription, not the scalability of the site. This is an issue report. The first pdf file I tried ishas been successfully converted to xml:during the import of the generated xml file into MuseScore the error message appears'.file is not a valid MusicXML file', because there is a zero duration in xml file, line 2408:011If force the import - MuseScore crashes in Fraction class:denominator 0. Hey everyone,As some of you have discovered by now, we released a new feature on this site which allows you to convert your PDF sheet music to a digital score which can be opened into MuseScore. Currently this digital format is MusicXML with the file extension.xml. So give it a try, upload a pdf file and download the.xml file. With the early tests thus far we identified already a couple of problems, such as slow handling of large pdf files. We will iron these problems out in the next days.Note: what this feature won't do is directly publish the digital score on musescore.com.
The digital score is meant to be opened in MuseScore so you can edit it further.More information very soon. I've been waiting for this feature, thank you. I've just imported a 2 page chart for Tenor Saxophone (originally created in Sibelius, and emailed to me as a.pdf) The conversion happened faster than I expected, musescore launched the new score automatically so I didn't need to recieve a notification. The key, time signature, pitches and values and accidentals were accurate. Multi-measure rests did not appear, neither did staccato marks (but ufermata did!).So it only took me few minutes to make the repairs and format the chart to fit 1 page - which is how I like it, so there is less page flipping needed on the bandstand.
It was years ago when cappella scan entered the market and I bought that Programm. I found that in most cases it is more effizient to edit the scores using a different software than scanning and trying to correct all the failures in cappella.
Shortly I found the Android APP NotateMe Now and was surprised about the good result. It works on photos you take or on jpg files as far I have tested. In any case the quality of the source must be high. The result can be exported as XML.The free Version only accepts single parts, no full scores.I tested 2 files jpg with NotateMe then printed both to PDF and tested the converter here. No results from here but acceptable ones from NotateMe. Perhaps it is a better idea to work picture formats then in Pdf.
